Dr. Mohammad Kaleem Ahmad is an Associate Professor at the Department of Biochemistry, King George’s Medical University, Lucknow. Dr. Ahmad has been engaged in research on thrust area like Metal toxicity, Role of natural products in cancer biology and Molecular Biology, along with the routine teaching activities in the department. Currently he evaluating the effect of some natural phytochemicals for their anti-cancer activity against different cancers and also exploring the genetic cause of male infertility, diabetes mellitus, diabetic nephropathy, cardiovascular diseases, oral and breast cancer by molecular profiling. Moreover, He has also performed microarray of miRNAs in prostate cancer and BPH and have identified some novel miRNAs which may be used as biomarkers for prostate cancer.
Dr. Ahmad established the departmental Molecular cell biology laboratory and developed the facilities for Genomic Studies like PCR and PCR based applications (RFLP, SSCP etc.), Expression of gene (RT-PCR), Expression of Protein (Western Blotting), Maintenance and Propagation of Cell Lines etc. In addition to this he was also help in starting the National Referral Centre for Lead Poising, Lucknow and has been associated with them since 2010. He has published more than 50 research article in reputed international journals with total impact factor over 100 and citations are more than 600.
Besides the laboratory work, he dedicated himself to fostering the science among students through public outreach talks and mentoring pre-and post-doctorates. He has received projects from DST, DBT, ICMR, UPCST, CCRUM etc. and delivered many invited talk at national/international conferences. Dr Ahmad is a recipient several prestigious awards such as Prof. Nurul Islam Award-2016 (IABS), Excellence in research award- 2016 (KGMU), Young Scientist Award- 2015 (InSLAR), etc.
